Abstract: The study titled: (Employing communication activities for public relations in promoting the performance of social institutions) was applied to the Ministry of Welfare and Social Security in Khartoum State. The problem of the study was identified in the role, nature and work of public relations functions in social institutions. Exercising its communication activities at the Ministry of Welfare and Social Security, and getting acquainted with the communicative and organizational aspects that regulate the public relations bodies in social institutions, and the social changes that have occurred in social institutions. This study was conducted on workers in social institutions at the Ministry of Welfare and Social Security, where the study chose a random sample of workers, which included (60) respondents from the study population, to collect data. The study relied on a questionnaire tool that contained closed and open questions for the respondents according to the objectives and questions of the study, and the study was used. Descriptive and analytical approach, the study also used the (Statistical Package Program for Social Sciences) to process field data after encoding and converting them into numbers. Among the most important findings of this study are the following: The study confirmed that conducting research and studies on the external public of the Ministry of Welfare and Social Security is practiced in relations The public sometimes at a rate of 41.7%, and the study showed that training the ministry’s employees to deal professionally with the client and gain his confidence is practiced in public relations departments at a rate of 45.0%. The study also confirmed that organizing visits by official and non-official delegations to the ministry is practiced in public relations departments at a rate of 45.0%. 51.7%, and the study recommended several recommendations, including: The need for the Public Relations Department to participate in decision-making in the ministry, and the need to work on the Upgrading the communication function of public relations in the ministry, by selecting specialized cadres and training workers on them, and the need to increase the volume of use of communication channels in the ministry.
