Abstract: The reality of Islamic education in East Africa , Malawi as a model. This paper seeks to answer the main question of the problem: What is the reality of Islamic education in East Africa and Malawi? The study aimed to identify the reality of Islamic education in East Africa for nineteen countries, taking Malawi as a model for the whole of East African countries, with emphasis on the history and role of Islamic schools in Malawi and highlighting the challenges they face. And its experience in terms of coping with existing volume systems, mentioning the specificities that are unique to these schools and their impact on the Malawian society and the role of Islamic organizations in supporting Arab-Islamic education, with some recommendations for improvement of Islamic education. The researcher used the descriptive method using the interview as a tool. The research attained a number of results the most important of which is that the curriculum of Islamic education does not reflect the culture and environment of the learner moreover, the worse stand of teachers pertaining to financial and ill training. Also, the weakness of administrative Performance and the shortage of finance. In addition to that there is no good coordination between the organization and institution. Despite all that, there is still acceplalite education between schools and government institutions.
