|Abstract:||This study: (Ibn Bassam Al-Shantarini, his approach and critical opinions in his book Al-Thakhira fi Mhasin Ahl Aljazeera) aimed to introduce Ibn Bassam, his efforts, critical opinions, clarify his approach, and study the foundations and criteria on which he relied in his criticism. The study also aimed to introduce the former critics of Ibn Bassam and his contemporaries and compare their critical opinions with those of Ibn Bassam. The study consisted of an introduction, four chapters and a conclusion, the first chapter and its title: Fundamentals of Research and Previous Studies, and the second chapter was entitled: Ibn Bassam his life, political and social life, criticism in his time and his critical efforts, and the third chapter is Ibn Bassam's relationship and critical opinions with those who preceded him or contemporaries of critics. And chapter four I devoted it to the foundations and criteria on which Ibn Bassam built his approach and critical opinions Through his study, the researcher reached some results, including: that Ibn Bassam was worthy of being known with him and his book Al-Thakhira, as his book is one of the most important critical and literary sources as well as historical ones that are concerned with Andalusian studies. In dividing his book, Ibn Bassam followed a geographical approach, following the example of Abu Mansour al-Thaalbi in his book Yatima al-Dahr. Ibn Bassam celebrated and paid attention to rhetorical colors, especially al-Badi' and al-Bayan in his judgment on the quality or poor quality of some literary works, i.e., what they contained of Badi' and elucidation.|
