Abstract: The aim of this research is to find out “the extent of the existence and practice of extra-curricular activities for second-grade secondary students and its relationship to their self-esteem in Khartoum locality- Khartoum sector-east (Arkawit district)”. The sample was 246 students using regular randomness, and the researcher followed the descriptive analytical approach, and the questionnaire was used as a tool to collect data, and after processing the data. The researcher reached to the results: the most important results are: 1. Social activities are available in secondary schools with a high degree. 2. The extra-curricular cultural activities are available in secondary schools with a moderate degree. 3. High school sports extra-curricular activities are available 4. There are no statistically significant differences in the extra-curricular activities due to the school type variable (government – private) 5. There are statistically significant differences in the extra-curricular activities due to the variable of the student's gender (male - female) that came to the benefit of males in practicing sports activities while in cultural and social activities there is no difference. 6. The Students’ self-esteem is high. 7. There is a correlation between practice and availability of extra-curricular activities and Students’ self-esteem. The researcher also recommends the following recommendations: The researcher recommends parents, educationists, and education departments to pay attention to extracurricular activities and activate them in a scientific and modern way in secondary schools. Their children do what they want to study, so the activities show us the students ’tendencies. The researcher also recommends activating social clubs in the neighborhoods with useful activities for future benefits of their lives.
