|Abstract:||The topic of the research is satellite channels and their role in shaping the mental image of societies (Sudan, as an example), by applying it to the BBC Arabic channel from 2019 to 2021. The researcher amid to recognize the role which the channel that contributes to the formation of the Sudanese society, given the importance of the attention the channel gives to Sudan. The problem of the research consisted in seeking to reveal the role of satellite channels in shaping the mental image of societies, and the role of the BBC Arabic channel in that, to clarify a basic hypothesis for the researcher, which the BBC Arabic channel contributes to the formation of the mental image about societal issues in Sudan to a large extent, and the researcher has adopted the descriptive approach the questionnaire was mainly used, and its applied framework was on a random sample of 49 experts, from specialists in the political field and university professors in political sciences, and then the psychometric properties of the scale were analyzed. The researcher reached a number of results, the most important of which are: The BBC Arabic channel has policies through which it works to form a mental image of Sudan. The researcher arranged several recommendations based on the results of the research, including conducting exploratory research to identify foreign satellite channels that have an impact on shaping the mental images of Sudanese society, the most attractive of them to the public , and their presence in the media competition scene of satellite channels, and the importance of building media strategies for the state, and that local channels take in consider the reality of the open skies, the competition of incoming media, and interest in mental image research , with regard to the media, both local and foreign, in their relationship to local and foreign audiences within the Sudanese society.|
