Abstract

The aim of the research is to identify the pros and cons of sports journalism towards deepening awareness of the importance of sports, and encouraging sports journalism to combat negative and extraneous phenomena in the sports community that tend towards intolerance, extremism and exaggeration in encouragement to the point of obsession. The problem of the research was the extent of the sports press’ interest in raising awareness and spreading moral awareness of the sports audience, and how to help highlight the role of sports journalism in deepening awareness and spreading ethics for the importance of sports, raising awareness and educating the sports public and pushing the sports press in spreading values and ethics and the importance of sports for the individual and society health, socially and economically. The researcher used the descriptive approach and content analysis, and concluded a number of results, the most important of which is that the newspaper used the means of highlighting represented in titles and pictures more than colors, graphics and tables. And that the language used by the newspaper in its articles was a journalistic language. The researcher recommended the use of all means of highlighting and influence, and avoiding hatred and intolerance in writing sports topics, and the importance of using easy language, which is the journalistic language that is understandable by all readers.
