ABSTRACT
In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful
Sudanese Society in the Turkish Era a Historical Study
of the Period 1820 – 1885
The study is made up of six chapters, each comprising three sections, each of which is divided into three topics.
The researcher started by presenting a historical background of the Arab and African origins of the Sudanese society, then reviewed the stage of the intermingling and blending process that took place between these elements and resulted in h formation of the currently known Sudanese tribes, pointing out the impact of that blending in the spread of Islam and Arabic language in the territories now know as the Sudanese country.
The researcher then reviewed the stage that witnessed the emergence of sultanates in Sinnar, Darfour and Tagali.
The study then focused on the conditions of the Sudanese society in the Turkish Era, and the changes that occurred in the social life and the health and educational services, communications, trade, security, agricultural development, the origination of towns such as Khartoum society that emerged in that new-born town.
The researcher threw light on the positive and negative impacts of that change on the society.
This is an attempt of studying the Sudanese social history, which still calls for more and more research. The researcher hopes that he has highlighted some historical principles related to the Sudanese Society during the mentioned ear that may help the researcher to go deep in the study.
