Abstract:
This dissertation treats the issue of Islamic scholarship trend in East Africa in
the nineteenth and twentieth centuries to present time, the efforts and contributions
exerted by the Muslim scholars of the region in serving Ilm al-Hadith and Ilm
Mustalah al-Hadith have been particularly studied, in his quest to highlight on this
in the field at different time frame within the scope of this research. The study also
made an attempt to highlight on the Mus
in the region as well as their efforts in establishing scholarly institutions suchc as
Islamic high schools and universities.
The primary data collection of this research was carried out using interviews,
documents, archivical manuscripts and library primary sources among others,
while data analysis and distribution were made using a descriptive analytical and
historical method to arrive at conclusion and findings.
