Abstract

In this paper titled “Sheikh Abdullah Swaleh Alfarisi and his Approach in his Book “The Exegesis of the Holy Qur’an” in Kiswahili. The researcher writes about the life of Sheikh Abdullah Swaleh Alfarisi, his educational effort, his service for the society seeking the pleasure of Allah in serving and educating the Muslims in different fields. The researcher for information collection goes back to original references and handles the topic in five chapters as follows: The First Chapter: Basics of the research including the introduction. The Second Chapter: The Biography of Sheikh Abdullah Swaleh Alfarisi. Third Chapter: Approach of Sheikh Abdullah Swaleh Alfarisi in language presentation. Fourth Chapter: Approach of Sheikh Abdullah Swaleh Alfarisi in exegesis and his references. Fifth Chapter: Approach of Sheikh Abdullah Swaleh Alfarisi on issues of Jurisprudence and faith. From this researcher, muslims benefit from the lifestyle of Sheikh Abdullah Swaleh Alfarisi, his knowledge and from his approach in exegesis. The researcher concludes that Sheikh Abdullah Swaleh Alfarisi presented his exegesis book in a professional organized language and used both approaches of exegesis: from Qur’an and Sunnah and logic. The researcher sums up that Sheikh Abdullah Swaleh Alfarisi was a very knowledgeable genius scholar incomparable to any other scholar in East Africa. He was famously known for his good character in honesty and always smiling face and humblness. A lot of people benefit from his knowledge and from the precious books he left for us the best of them being “The Exegesis of the Holy Qur’an” in Kiswahili. The sheikh fought against religious heresies and wrong interpretations of Islamic teachings. May Allah have mercy on him and may he make us benefit from his knowledge.
