استقرار العلاقات الجيبوتية الإثيوبية في الفترة ما بين ( 1917-1980م): ( دراسة تاريخية )

Abstract

This research is entitled "the stability of Djiboutian- Ethiopian relations between 1917-1980" . The research aims at showing the historical relations between the two countries and their development in a positive way as well as finding out the most eminent factors that contributed to many progressions. The research also covers the colonial and post-independence period with showing more details about the history of both period , not forgetting ,the railway and the Djiboutian port's role in developing the relations between the two countries , pointing that the port of Djibouti and French- Ethiopian railway lines were established at the same time approximately.

In this study, the researcher used the historical, descriptive and analytical approaches as well as documents and field interviews.

The study is divided into five chapters and conclusion. The most important results reached by the study are: - Djiboutian- Ethiopian railways which link the Ethiopian capital (Addis Ababa) with the Republic of Djibouti is the basis of the relations between the two countries. - The Eritrean tension with both Djibouti and Ethiopia had contributed to the rapprochement between them. - Personal relations between the leaders had played a major role in making rapprochement between the two countries. Recommendations: the most important recommendations are as follows: - Djiboutian and Ethiopian research centers should conduct further studies in this field, research centers should also cooperate to set up joint seminars in order to reflect on the significance of the historical relations between the two countries. - To reconsider the chart of the non prejudice to the borders left by the colonial masters which was issued by the Organization of African Unity in 1958 and did not solve the African border dispute. - The researcher recommends political leaders of both countries to continue making political understandings for the stability of both countries in order to avoid the transmission of destabilization in the region of the Horn of Africa.
