Abstract

The study addressed is the problem of the absence of a uniform guide to the standardized microfinance standards applied in the microfinance institution studied (MFIS). The study also dealt with the impact of the microfinance quality standards on food security in Sudan. The purpose of the study was to measure the extent of applying quality standards within the microfinance institutions and their impact on the quality of agricultural and animal products. Hence, the study examined the extent of how successful these standards were in the regards to ensuring food safety and security and means and ways of applying them to cover the other funding institutions, the researcher followed the historical and descriptive method. Statistical analysis of questionnaires and interviews were used for collecting data based on a field research covering a random sample of 60 participants and 8 interviews prior to testing the hypothesis. The study consisted of five chapters each of which consisted of several research issues. As a whole, the study included the basics of the study, literature review, theoretical framework followed by the field work addressing the quality of microfinance in the achievement of food security from 2008-2016 as a case study. The study contained a summary, results, conclusions and recommendations in addition to the references and appendices. The study concluded that there were no standardized quality standards measures in the intuitions under study. Each establishment had its own set of measures. These standards however, helped to achieve self-sufficiency and food security. The study concluded that a uniform guide of quality standards be developed and applied to all institutions to ensure speedy and effective implementation.
