Abstract

This paper aims to identify the reform visions of Sheikh Othman bin Foudi in the country of Takror and Imam Mahdi in the Nile Valley Sudan. What are the challenges and the local environment that confronted these movements and enabled them to respond to them in accordance with the requirements of Sharia (origin) and the historical context? The paper uses the descriptive and analytical method to know some of the components of the reform experiment among intellectuals in these regions and what were the commitments between the reformist movements in Northern Nigeria – Hausa Diar) district) and Eastern Sudan. This paper depends on some of the available literature on African and Sudanese history to find the social and intellectual base of the reformist thought of both Sheikh and Imam.
