dc.description.abstract Abstract The present research deals with the indicators of success in Islamic Banks. The researcher adopted the descriptive analytical approach for this study which is composed of an introduction and three chapters with a number of themes each, besides a conclusion and recommendations. The 1st chapter handles the essential indicators determining success; it discusses the indicators of deposits and assets as well as the indicators of dividends to equities and depositors together with liquidity indicators. The second chapter revolves around management of success factors in the Islamic banks, it present some internal factors such as trust and risk management in the Islamic banks. The chapter also discusses some of the influences of the central bank on success as one of the external factors as well as the impacts of banking globalization on the Islamic banks, while the third and the last chapter contains the Faisal Islamic Bank (Sudan) as a case study. The chapter gives concise background on the Bank, features some indicators of success in the Faisal Islamic Bank (Sudan) and analyzes the data obtained from the Bank in the period from 2003 to 2009. There are some previous studies on the topic, such as the study conducted by Munzir Gahaf entitled “The factors of success of Islamic Banks”, and the one by Algareeb Nasir entitled “The Islamic banking principles & issues of operation”, and the study by Abdelhameed Albashir entitled “The effective performance of Islamic Banks in the middle East”. The research concluded with summarizing the findings reached by the researcher, besides the recommendations. The hypothesis of this study are that the usage of Islamic modes of finance leads to improvement of success factors in Islamic Banks, that Faisal Islamic Bank’s commitment to banking standards leads to improved success factors. Furthermore, the researcher reached a number of findings, including that the protection of Islamic Banks through the regulations and policies issued by the central banks in Muslim countries enables them to play their roles to the full in preparation for global competition, and that Faisal Islamic Bank’s sticking to international banking stadandards has led to improving the Bank’s success factors and this coincides with the first hypotheses; this in addition to the fact that Islamic Banks need to be provided with some mechanisms save them when faced with liquidity shortages. The research stated some recommendations, including the need to merge the Islamic Banks that have weak potentials in order to create some gigantic Islamic banking and financial units so that they can be able to and well prepared for full competition as well as that the Islamic Banks need to diversify their packages of finance by adding some different mode of finance, and concern with long-term credits and establishing complementary relationships among Islamic Banks hence raising their efficiency such as establishing joint research and investment projects that benefit both of them and community at large. en_US
