Abstract:
The aim of this study was to investigate the reality of administrative problems in the management of Islamic private secondary school in Yobe state, northern Nigeria, the causes and proposed solutions according to the weakness of performance, both in terms of administrative performance of the principals in the Departmental work or in terms of academic qualifications and practical experiences and skills, depending on the contemporary developments. The research specifies the problems that are delaying the administrative functioning and finds effective solutions to it.
For these objectives to be achieved the following questions are considered:
1-To what extent is the compliance of the principals in the Islamic secondary schools with the principles and objectives of school management?
2 – To what degree is their awareness of responsibilities and obligations undertaken by them?
3 - What are the qualifications through which the principals of secondary schools are appointed?
4 – What are the ways that help to assess the management performance of the school principals?
To answer these questions, the researcher used the descriptive and analytical method, and to obtain information which answers the questions, the researcher used the following tools:
1 - questionnaire.
2 - the interview.
3 –observation.
This research location is only limited to: Yobe State of northern Nigeria.
And time limit is: 2006 - 2010 م.
Objective limits: school management in Islamic secondary schools of Yobe state in northern Nigeria, problems and proposed solutions.
1-In conclusion, the researcher found the following results:
2- The principals lack communication skills with the official sectors as they also lack the establishment of relationships with social institutions and the International Islamic educational organizations.
3-The level of performance of the principal who have a long experience in the school administration is better than that of the principal who have short experience, and he is neither a university graduate nor educationally trained man.
The researcher recommends the need for cooperation of the state Ministry of Education with the Islamic Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) in the implementation of educational policies and administration, within the limits of what serves the interests of Islamic education.
