Abstract:
This research dealt with Arabic words in the Somali language as an study in philology, it aimed towards highlighting the impact of Arabic on the Somali language, then indicating the nature of words borrowed in the Somali language detecting the linguistic changes, audio, morphological and semantic that happened to it after borrowing.
The researcher followed the analytical descriptive method in the study to describe the nature of the Arabic words in the Somali language and then to analyze the implications of these words by semantic fields, also benefited from the historical approach, he also adopted the inductive approach The research involved five chapters.
Chapter I: This chapter contains the basics of research which are the subject of research its objectives, it importance, the research hypothesis, it methodology, its tools as well as the limits of the research, search new terms and review of literature.
Chapter II dealt with the historical background of Somalia, the status of the Arabic language in Somalia, the relationship of the Arabic language in Somali, then addresses the phenomena of borrowing and verbal participation.
Chapter III: This chapter covers the semantic category of Arabic words in the Somali language, aspects of semantic change of words, also dealt with the concept of semantic field, subdivisions, and the semantic fields of words.
Chapter IV: This chapter discussed the changes of the sounds of the borrowed words, the impact of inequality in terms the voices of the borrowed-words, as well as audio concordance between the two languages, and also addressed the morphological changes in the borrowed words, then focused on the phenomenon's of the changes, the deletion and the increase in the borrowed words.
Chapter V: covered the applied part of the study which includes: the methodological procedures of the study, the community of study, the study sample and the findings of the results.
The research end up with the findings of the study besides some recommendations based on the finding. The researcher finally installed a list of sources and references used by the researcher, followed by some supplementary documents that are partically related to the subject.
