Abstract:
This study aims at identifying the teaching qualifications which are necessary for the mathematics teacher in the basic level.
The researcher has adopted the descriptive method as it is appropriate for this kind of study. The researcher also used the questionnaire as a means of data collection and the percentages as a means for data analysis. The most important findings are as follows:
1- The teacher who is accused with the content of the mathematics subject, contributes to its simplification and to the explanation of its conceptions, in addition to linking its parts and linking it with pupils life.
2- Most of the mathematics teachers haven’t had the chance to benefit from training courses.
3- The adoption of the traditional methods in teaching mathematics leads to the students low attainment stands.
4- The teachers imbecility to correctly phrase the subjects objectives leads to failure in achieving these objectives.
The researcher recommends the following among other recommendations :
1- To review the training courses with reference to reckoning of time, purport and content .
2- To qualify the mathematics teachers, who are the graduates of non-educational colleges, by specialized educational courses.
3- To enrich the syllabus of mathematics in he basic level with supplementary programmes so as to increase learning acquisition and to make the mathematics subject a desirable one to pupils.
