Content: The Kenyan Society has changed in the religious, cultural, social, economic and political aspects as a result of the Arabic and Islamic migrations.
The Importance of the study: The importance of the study lies in the emphasis in- a profound and independent manner- on the Islamic impact of Islam and Islamic culture in Kenya. It also explained the connection of the eastern coast with the Arabian peninsula.
The objectives of the study: The study aimed at investigating the geographical, social and religious environment of the state of Kenya before the arrival of Islam, and highlighting the role of the Omani and Hadrami migrations in the spreading of Islam, the social, cultural and economic change in Kenya and illustrating the great role of the Islamic states and the liberation of the region from the Portuguese colonial rule.
The problem of the research: It was manifested in the cultural impact of the Islamic states in Kenya and their role in the Jihad Movement against the Portuguese colonization.
The method: The historical/descriptive/analytical method.
The most important findings: the oldest Arabic contacts and connections with the African east coast were made by the states of south Arabian peninsula eg., Ma'en, Sabaa and Himyar, and their connection increased following the floourishing of the trade and the navigation skills through the successive Omani and Hadrami migrations and their impact on the history of the coast of east African – Kenya. This process resulted in the ethnic melting through intermarriage and intermixing which in turn engendered a generation bearing the Arabic/Bantuan traits and the Kiswahili language.
