Abstract

This research is aiming at identifying body language and its role in teaching the subject of Arabic language to the fifth grade in the intermediate stage in Turkey and to identify how extent teachers are trained to use body language. The researcher used the descriptive analytical method to tackle this research. The research community consisted of 200 male and female teachers in İstanbul. A sample of 60 male and female teachers which are representing 30% of the main community was selected in a simple random way. The researcher used the questionnaire as the main tool for collecting data. The Alpha-Cronbach reliability coefficient was calculated by the SPSS program for statistical data processing. The method used to analyze this data is the frequency and percentages to obtain the responses of the sample members, also the arithmetic average. The study reached a number of results including: the body language has an active role in teaching Arabic language to the fifth grade intermediate schools in Turkey. The use of body language reduces the anxiety of the learner in learning Arabic language. Body language is important in the effective teaching. Body signals deliver information faster than verbal speech and conform to the educational principles which assigned to effective teaching. According to the results, the researcher presented a number of recommendations, including: There is a necessity of the use of body language, which proved its effective in student achievement. Re-printing the Arabic language book and adding color graphics as well as providing modern teaching Aids to keep up with technology.
