Abstract:
This study was titled: (The Effectiveness of Semantic Maps in Teaching History)
This research aims to identify the reality of teachers' use of the semantic map, to identify the effectiveness of using the semantic method in teaching history, and to reveal the competencies of teachers in using the semantic method.
The researcher adopted the descriptive approach, and used the questionnaire as a tool to collect data.
The research community consists of all history teachers in North Kordofan State. As for the research sample, it consisted of fifty male and female teachers who teach history. The researcher performed for statistical analysis using the descriptive statistics of extracting arithmetic averages, standard deviations, frequencies and percentage, and came to the following results:
Some history teachers use semantic maps, and the use of semantic maps in teaching history facilitates the material to students. Informers are not trained to use semantic maps. The textbook on it has indicative maps and adequate drawings.
The researcher also provides the following recommendations:
Paying attention to training teachers on the use of semantic maps, amending the textbook to include indicative maps and illustrations, and linking the history curriculum for the second secondary grade with the curriculum of other grades, and taking into account the sequence in the curriculum.
The researcher also offers the following proposals:
Conducting a study on the use of semantic maps in teaching history in all grades, conducting a research on the use of semantic maps in all subjects, and conducting research in educational aids and their impact on teaching history at the secondary level.
