Abstract:
This research about the Social media and their role in spreading rumors among young people study applied on Facebook from 2019-2020
The study aimed to uncover the role of social media in spreading rumors and identifying the Facebook site, in addition to determining the impact of Facebook on the youth, the study community, and familiarizing young people with rumors and how to confront them and limit their spread.
the researcher used a descriptive and analytical method for the purpose of collecting, analyzing and interpreting information and data related to the research to obtain the results expected at the end of the research.
The researcher used the questionnaire as a main tool, and the observation is an additional tool. 100 questionnaire forms were distributed to the youth in the research community in Khartoum State in three Sudanese universities, Africa Public University, Sudan International University and Al-Neelain University.

The study found that Facebook site most used by young people, due to its ease of use.
Many of the respondents confirmed that social media has helped spread rumors among young people to a large extent, and that it negatively affects young people.
The study proved that Facebook is the most popular site for rumors, and that the most Facebook users are young university students.

The necessity of tight control over communication sites, not spreading rumors without making sure of their authenticity, establishing official websites to combat rumors and address them and limit their spread.
