Research Title: The Foundations of Philosophies and theories of Information Science
in the Light of the Holy Quran

Degree: PhD in Information and Library Science,
This research aims to find out the origins of the philosophies and theories of
information science on the light of the Holy Qur'an. The research used the deductive,
historical, descriptive and info-graphic approaches. It relied for information on the
sources of Islamic legislation, the Holy Quran and the Prophet's Sunnah, renowned
books, encyclopedias, interpretation books, periodicals, university dissertations, etc.,
and sources of secondary information such as books and others. The research lead to
several results, the most important of them are: The verses in the Holy Qur’an indicate
whether statement, a hint, and an implication, scientific facts about which information
science revolve. .It stressed that information science and some of its branches were
contained in the Qur'an 14 centuries ago in a concise manner, such as documentation
science, blogging, Arabic writing, data transmission and communication, knowledge
management and sources, information retrieval systems, information sources and
classification. The research recommends a number of recommendations, the most
important of which is the preparation of a plan for a text book in which the idea is
explained by examples in the field of information science according to the Holy Quran.
Any curriculum of information science should be accompanied with a brief about the
Muslim scholars who contributed to the development of the early stages of information
science. |
