| dc.description.abstract | The theme of the present study focuses on exposing the difficulties facing learners of Arabic as a second language in understanding the questions of language quizzes as exemplified by those about the reading skill The aim of the present research is to characterize the causes leading to these difficulties in addition to reaching suggestions and recommendation to take them. The researcher uses descriptive approach in collecting information from relevant literature. She exploits two tool in executing her search: the first is analysis of the quiz sections aiming at testing reading skill of non native learners of Arabic as prepared and implemented in the Institute of Arabic Language at the International University of Africa. The second tool is collecting information from a model interview form distributed to a number of experts in the field of teaching Arabic to non native speakers. Based upon the above mentioned procedures the present research reach several results chief among which is that the analysis of quiz sections is not the ideal method to expose the difficulties facing the learners in understanding reading skill questions. Moreover, these difficulties arise from lack of analysis and following up of the implemented tests to find out and treat weak points. The researcher recommends that research efforts should be directed to language quizzes in general and to the difficulties facing the learner in understanding quiz questions in particular in order to find suitable solutions. In addition, she suggests devising a mechanism concerned with improving the following up of the process of formulation of the relevant quizzes to guarantee the completeness of evaluation steps. | en_US |
