Abstract

This research deals with the problems of the written expression that facing the students of Northwest University, in Nigeria. Which seeks to discover the causes and treatment of these problems, this research also aims to achieving some of the goals as the following: 1- Identify the written expression problems facing the students of Arabic Language in Northwest University Kano, Nigeria. 2- Identify some fields of written expression, which consider the biggest problem facing students. 3- disclosure of the reasons that lead students to occurrence of errors in written expression. The tools that used by the researcher in the study was: test and questionnaire. There are the most important findings of the study, which are as follows: 1- overlap and linguistic influence of the mother language and bilingual in the country is one of the reasons written expression problems. 2- No imbalance between language skills in teaching. 3- Do not use modern methods and means at the university in teaching Arabic to non-native speakers, especially in written expression. Most important recommendations reached by the Study are as follows: 1- provide the university library with books and providing diverse educational methods and appropriate and modern techniques in the field of teaching Arabic to non-native speakers. 2- Must to urged students to speak classical Arabic orally and in writing. 3- demonstrate what a student has learned in the lecture through language training and diversity in it.
