Abstract: Research topic: Journalism's handling of media legislation issues from the point of view of Sudanese journalists (an analytical descriptive study applied to a sample of Sudanese journalists 2016-2018) The research focused on its objectives on several axes, including: standing on the press handling of media legislation issues, presenting the laws regulating journalistic work in Sudan, identifying the opinions of journalists regarding these laws, and identifying the journalists ’proposals to achieve the greatest possible freedom of professional practice and developing the profession of journalism in Sudan, and devising Solutions to the problems hindering the freedom of journalistic work according to what journalists see, and knowing the limits it sets and the restrictions it imposes on the freedom of the press. The importance of this research lies in clarifying the press’s treatment of media legislation issues from the viewpoint of Sudanese journalists, and trying to reach a consensus between the journalists ’desire for freedom of journalism, commitment to professionalism, professional ethics, and regulatory laws, and reconciling freedom with the community’s interest in order to reach the press with a degree of responsibility and realism away from exaggeration and excitement. In light of successive legal changes and amendments in the legislation governing journalistic work. The researcher used the historical and descriptive approaches, using the research tools represented in the questionnaire for data analysis and interviews, applied to the research community, which included a number of Sudanese journalists and a number of experts. The research problem is represented in the researcher's desire to know how the press deals with issues of media legislation in light of the laws regulating the profession of journalism. The research came out with a set of results, including: The field study showed the approval of the sample members that the criticism directed by journalists of the press laws and legislation through columns of opinion indicates their interest in the freedom to practice the profession of journalism by 86.6%, and the study also indicated that the sample members agree that journalistic writings With regard to the laws, it is distinguished by the diversity of its editorial forms by 83.5%. The research also concluded with a number of recommendations, the most important of which are not restricting the freedom of journalists, removing yourself from journalistic work, and the need for a body with an independent judiciary status not affiliated with the government to hold journalists accountable.
