ABSTRACT
This research is titled as:
“The Cultural Content of the Arabic Teaching Programs for the Speakers of Other Languages -An Analytical and Evaluation Study (the Series of ‘el- Arabiyya Bayna Yadaika’ as a Model)”.
The researcher has tried in this study to identify the cultural content of the ‘el- Arabiyya Bayna Yadaika’ series.
The problem of this research was to find an answer to the following question:
To what extent are the characteristics of a good cultural content represented in the cultural content of the teaching programs of Arabic language for its non-native speakers?
The researcher has used the descriptive analytical approach since it was best suited to the nature of this research.
Interviews with the experts who wrote the ‘el- Arabiyya Bayna Yadaika’ series were one of the tools employed by the researcher to take advantage of their views and suggestions. And also she has employed the Content analysis tool to identify the cultural content of the series of ‘el- Arabiyya Bayna Yadaika’, to disclose the positive and negative aspects of that content, and to suggest some solutions for the shortcomings of such programs.
As for the thematic limits of the study, they are confined to knowing only the cultural content of the Arabic language teaching programs, not to knowing their language content.
The researcher expects that the teachers of Arabic language for its non-native speakers, and the institutions concerned with Arabic language teaching would benefit from this study.
Some most important results of the study are as follows:
• Committing to the scientific fundamentals in writing Arabic language teaching books for its non-native speakers is important.
• Criteria for the selection of cultural content of the ‘el- Arabiyya Bayna Yadaika’ series are based on the Arabic and Islamic culture.
• ‘El- Arabiyya Bayna Yadaika’ is one of the most excellent series to teach Arabic language for its non-native speakers since it has benefited from the mistakes of the previous books, which made it in the lead.
• The content of ‘El- Arabiyya Bayna Yadaika’ series is closely linked to its objectives and appropriate to the cultural reality.
• The information contained in the texts of the series is correct and accurate.
Some most important recommendations of the research are as follows:
• Training teachers to teach the books of the series.
• Review of some accompanying images since they were not expressive, especially those of women.
• Paying attention to the teaching methods of Islamic culture and to their development; and to search for new methods which keep pace with the progress attained in the field of Arabic teaching for its non-native speakers. |
