Abstract

The research has touched on the role of social and political dimensions in the Sudanese-Chadian relations during the period from (1989-2012). The research has focused on tackling a number of factors that have direct effect on the relations between the two countries. The research has tackled in the theoretical framework the role of the social and political dimensions in international relations, through looking into a number of social dimensions like the dimension of primary affiliations , the national dimension, population dimension, religious dimension and the cultural dimension as well as looking in a number of political dimensions like the dimension of political geography , the dimension of political systems, the dimension of dispute and international conflict ,the dimension of ideology and the diplomatic dimension for the purpose of laying down a general theoretical framework and a joint understanding of the role of the social and political dimensions in affecting international relations. The research affirmed the importance of the roles of social and political dimensions as strong influencers in the fluctuation of relations between the two countries through the social dimensions like tribal and population intermingling , the joint tribes and the religious, cultural and linguistic dimension as well as the political dimensions, the political systems , the political parties and the armed opposition action whereby all these dimensions had their strong impacts in the relations of the two countries ranging from , tension, stability and deterioration. The research has touched on the incidents and the social , economic , political, military and security developments during the period of the research which the period that has seen the rule of the two regimes of the National Salvation Revolution in Sudan and the rule of the National Movement of Salvation in Chad and the strength of the social characteristics particularly the tribal intermingling and the common tribes between the two countries from which a big number of their
