This study deals with problems of formal Islamic Education in Mali (2003-2007) aimed at examining the historic role played by Islamic education in edification of human and society, critical analysis of curriculum of formal Islamic Education in Mali pertaining to develop it. It aims also to enlighten problems of education summing on workers in the field to find out accurate solution. Finally, to provide news ideas and visions contributing to the social insertion of school outputs in Mali, so as to overcome negative ideas towards them.
The researcher used descriptive and analytical method and interactive one; questionnaire interview and observation.
The key findings are:
1. Objectives of curriculum of Formal Islamic Education of base schools in Mali are not accurately and clearly defined.
2. The curriculum contains Islamic and societal values.
3. strengthing French language in the curriculum will enlarge job opportunities for graduate students.
4. Most of teachers in basic schools are not qualified and have been not trained during the service.
5. Teachers are not enjoying their jobs because of low salaries.
6. Schools are not systematically supervised default of guiders who do not perform their duties.
7. Curriculum of Islamic Education needs evaluation and development.
8. Formal Islamic Education is suffering from meager support of republic of Mali and Arab countries which is not sufficient to solve problems Islamic Education.
The main recommendations of the research are:
1. Evaluation and development of the curriculum
2. stressing and diversify on the job-training enlarging its scup.
3. strangthining objectives of the curriculum according to needs of society.
4. Stimulate French language in the curriculum of Islamic education.
5. Provide a portion of budget allocated to private to official Islamic schools.
6. Formalize contracts between teachers and head masters.
7. Establish student parent council in these schools. |
