Abstract:
Due to the significant role of kindergartens in childhood development and their contribution to the preparation of children for schooling . the study is conducted on kindergartens in Khartoum state in both sectors – public and private – to assess the programmes adopted ate the educational and administrative level equally . the main objectives of the study are :
1. To assess the administrative per performance of the directors of the kindergartens under study .
2. To assess the administrative principles which underlie the administrative practices and efforts exerted by the directors of the kindergartens .
3. To suggest an effective programme capable of maintaining and enhancing the development achieved at both levels – education and administration .
The researcher has adopted the integrated approach combining the descriptive approach and the analytic due to the nature of the study .
The questionnaire represents the major instrument of data collection and the respondents were selected form :
1. pre- school educational supervisors .
2. Directors of kindergartens.
3. Teachers.
The study culminated in the following results :
1. There is a lack of systematic training programmes for the directors ate both the educational and administrative level .
2.The monitoring of the teachers performance is insufficient with reference to the development of the syllabus in use as well as the programmes which supplement it .
3. The regulations which control the performance are in need of revision and updating to provide for the development to be achieved in this field .
4. Both the qualifications and overage of the supervisors have a negative effect on the directors performance .
5. Fees , which are collected from the families , as well as the low salaries of the teachers are also among the negative factors .
The study suggests the following recommendations :
1. A revision of the qualifications of the kindergartens directors stipulating a university certificate in the required specialization .
2. An effective plan should be adopted in order to improve the performance of the directors at all level .
3. The regulations of administrative of administrative performance should be reassessed and updated .
4. Research in this field should be encouraged concentrating on the administrative affairs , exploiting the available comparative studies .
5. Governmental financial support is necessary in order to secure sufficient training , audiovisual aids and other logistic requirements .
