Abstract:
This research tries to investigate the attitudes of Chadian secondary schools students towards drugs abuse in N'Djamena. The research also aims at studying the difference in attitudes of Chadian secondary schools students towards drugs abuse according to demographic variables i.e. gender, class, and place of residence ...etc. The researcher adopted the descriptive method to achieve these objectives. Simple random sampling method applied to select a sample of (800) students. The researcher used the following scale to collect the data of the present research: Attitudes towards drugs abuse scale designed by the researcher and bibliographical data sheet. Statistical Package for social sciences applied to analyze the data of this research by using T-test, Pearson & Spearman correlation coefficients, and One Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). The most important results of the study are as follows; Attitudes of Chadian secondary schools students towards drugs abuse are statistically positive. There is a significant negative correlation between the attitudes of Chadian secondary schools students towards drugs abuse with scholastic adjustment. There is a significant negative correlation between the attitudes of Chadian secondary schools students towards drugs abuse with social adjustment. There is a significant statistical difference in attitudes of Chadian secondary schools students towards drugs abuse according to academic stream (Arts- Sciences) in favor of arts students. There is a significant statistical difference in attitudes of Chadian secondary schools students towards drugs abuse according to gender (Married- Single) in favor of married students. There is no significant statistical difference in attitudes of Chadian secondary schools students towards drugs abuse according to gender (male- female). There is no significant statistical difference in attitudes of Chadian secondary schools students towards drugs abuse according to language of study (French- Arabic). There is a significant statistical difference in attitudes of Chadian secondary schools students towards drugs abuse according to place of residence (Rural-Urban) in favor of urban students. Finally, the researcher suggested some recommendations and proposals for future studies.
