Abstract

This research concerns the preventive maintenance and its effect on the decrease of the cost. We followed the analytical and descriptive approach depending on collecting information and making comparisons for different situations to reach research results also by selecting a random sample of the staff representative of the senior management level and middle-management, questionnaires were analyzed by statistical assumptions. The study contains four main chapters, definition of the preventive maintenance and its relation with other departments of the company and also definition of methods, systems and application of maintenance and its effect on cost. The study contains also strategic thinking and strategic planning and brief description of World System Transport (W.S.T). We concluded that improvement of the maintenance system is important for the organization to success in achieving its goals and objectives and decreasing cost. We noted that the (W.S.T) company has a good maintenance system but it has some weakness somewhere, for example of the experience of organizations lead to increased opportunities for improvement and development of the maintenance system and training of the company employees and deployment of maintenance programs, information and planning system so that every worker know what his requirements. Also leading to decrease cost and time require for doing maintenance work. Study resulted that the presence of an effective management maintenance system helps the organization to achieve competitive advantage for the organization. Based on previous results the researcher recommended the need for the attention of preventive maintenance application and attention of improvement and technological modernize of maintenance programs and the training of the company employees in maintenance section , and also attention of deployment of maintenance programs in workshops and offices so that it known by every worker and driver . Also the researcher recommended that it is important for the organization to be attention of decreasing maintenance cost and time for doing maintenance work and that is done by application of preventive maintenance programs.
