dc.description.abstractThe research tackled the issue of the wides-pread use of credit cards; the crimes related thereto, the methods of combatting and describing such crimes and the prescription of appropriate punishment therefor. Credit- card fraud is a new type of crime; hence, the research aims to establish legal grounds for the definition and the disambiguation thereof. The research relied on a descriptive –analytical and inductive methodology and, by way of comparison, considered a number of theories and jurisprudential opinions. The research reached a conclusion to the effect that the2007 Information Technology Crime Act is inadequate and incapable of ending credit-card fraud. The research recommended the criminalization of all types of crimes related to credit cards by explicit legal provisions that would provide sufficient protection thereof and maintain the trust of users thereinen_US
