dc.description.abstractThis study has addressed effect of recycled plant charcoal residue on environment conservation at the central market in Khartoum. The study also aimed at familiarizing with the plant charcoal residue recycling to know how and converting it into compressed charcoal and its effect on environment conservation. The study is based on hypothesis that recycling of plant charcoal residue helps in environment conservation and that the product converted from recycled plant charcoal residue is of good quality and competitively marketable. Experimental and descriptive analytical methods were employed to arrive at the results. Research tools such as practical experiments, individual interviews and researcher’s observations were as well used in this study. The study arrived at several results and findings that included that: It’s possible to recycle the residue of plant charcoal and converting it into compressed charcoal with qualities - that can compete with other available types of plant charcoal - such as the combustion time, the ash residue after combustion and the maximum specific heat among others; it doesn’t leave black carbon dust on hands; have regular shapes with minimal breakages; no smell nor smoke production during combustion and no crackling during burning. Based on the obtained results, the following recommendations were given: Expansion of compressed charcoal industry; encouraging of plant charcoal residue recycling; add the idea into small and medium entrepreneur projects to realize huge benefits economically and environmentally; conduct further researches to introduce the charcoal residue into the making of light weight blocks and soil improvers.en_US
