أحاديث الاستعاذة في السّنّة النّبويّة : جمعًا ودراسة

Abstract

All praise belongs to Allaah, the one and only, blessings and peace be upon the one that there is no prophet after him, his family, his companions and those who follow him. This research has been compiled in fulfillment of the requirements of attaining Master’s Degree at the International University of Africa, the faculty of Islamic Studies, the department of hadith (sayings and teachings of the Prophet peace be upon him) and its sciences. The central theme and the subject of research is ‘Studies and analysis on the hadith collections from the books of hadiths related to seeking refuge with Allaah.’ The collection of the hadiths for this study is based on specific chapters related to the topic of seeking refuge in the six books. The analysis was specifically focused on seeking refuge where it is used literally in the hadith collections; and a further analysis was conducted on those that are so apparent, then imputing the hadiths to the original and indigenous sources of hadiths. Critical review was further subjected to these hadiths collection to determine their authenticity and separate the sound from the weak hadiths. Moreover, an importance was placed to further analyze the hadiths with the objective of deriving the understanding of the meanings of these hadiths with the aim of extracting the fruits and benefits that can be obtained from these tremendous acts associated in carrying out this noble act of seeking refuge from the authentic sources. The act of seeking refuge has to be done in compliance with following and acting in accordance with the ways of the messenger peace be upon him and to be steadfast in following his guidance and seeking refuge from those things that are tantamount to causing harm and wickedness. The motivation behind this study is due to the moral decay and disappearance on implementing the authentic ways of seeking refuge from evil in our Islamic societies. This is evidenced by the appearance of many distractions in our times that has resulted in the decline of usage of the correct means to the spiritual healing of the heart by seeking refuge with Allaah, a matter which has driven many to associate great importance on the reasons attached to these issues rather than returning to Allaah and placing the reliance on Him. This research is divided into three chapters: • The first chapter discusses the various components of this study including: the benefits associated with seeking refuge with Allaah from the right means, the reason behind choosing the topic, the aim and purpose of the research etc. • The second chapter discusses the biographies of the authors of the six books of hadith including their personal life, their seeking of knowledge and their merits of scholarship. • The third and the last chapter discusses the choices on selection of the hadith collections related specifically to this topic on the six books of hadith, imputation of the hadiths to the original and indigenous sources of hadiths, investigation on the collectors of hadiths in their chains of narration, finding the rulings on authenticity of the collections of these hadiths and extracting benefits in accordance with the following approaches:  Methodical approach in tracing the hadiths which discuss the topic of seeking refuge with Allaah, based on specific chapters from the six books according to the conditions mentioned before.  Formal approach to impute the hadiths to the original and indigenous sources of hadiths, and to analyze or treatise the hadiths to determine their authenticity and distinguish the sound from the weak ones with the aim of clarifying and elaborating on the contents of these hadiths from the major works on the explanations of these hadith books and also from the dictionaries.  Extra bonus derived from the study in order to underpin important benefits associated with creed, jurisprudence and other benefits from the hadith collections. The research concluded on several things, the most important of which are: • Seeking refuge with Allaah - statements when uttered brings you closer to Allaah, seeking aid and assistance from Allaah for protection from the accursed satan; hence an important means of worship from the greatest ways of worshiping. • A means of identifying the correct ways of protection according to the authentic ways of the Prophet peace be upon him. • Seeking refuge with Allaah has tremendous benefits, a lofty impact and a lasting effect.
