Abstract

This research dealt with the role of women in the Scholarship in Hadith (descriptive and historical study). It aimed at the position and role of Muslim women in the Islamic society, the fairness of Islam to Muslim women as well as elucidation on her rights in Islam and discussion of suspicions and allegories about the alleged injustice towards women in Islam with reference to service delivered by the woman in Sunnah (doings and sayings of the prophet). The researcher followed the analytical descriptive method and historical method as well. The research entails four chapters, a conclusion and indexes. Chapter one: This chapter contains the basics of research that includes an introduction and importance of research, the problem of research and objectives, and research questions, research hypotheses and methodology, tools, and the limits of research. Chapter two dealt with women in Islam and in pre Islamic era, their status in the pre-Islamic era, women in Islam as grounded in the Quran and Sunnah, the devotion given by Islam to the education of women and the different fields in which a women worked during the prophet’s era. Chapter Three: This chapter deals with the efforts of the Sahabiyat (Female Companions of the Prophet) and the Tabi’iyaat (the generation after that of the prophet) after them and that after it, in service of the Sunnah, the narration of Hadith in general (by all the companions) and the conditions for narrations in the six authenticated books Hadith. Chapter four: This chapter dealt with the ways of resounding and passing on Hadith, the concern and efforts shown by women in this field - criticism of the weak narrations and approving and modifying some other narrations. The researcher focused Sunnah sources in efforts to understand the women’s toil in this field. In conclusion, he mentioned the most important findings and recommendations of the researcher that women before Islam were humiliated and oppressed then came Islam to give back her rights, and that she also has a great role of preserving the Islamic Shariah (Islamic Law) in a general sense and narration of Hadith in particular, her role in the Knowledge of approving and modification narrations, and that she also has a big role in inscription and writing.
