Abstract

This dissertation analyzes the role of Critical Path Method (CPM) in projects planning. The researcher followed the data analysis method to reach the conclusion. The research was based on data collected from various events to compare the importance of each task. The data was collected from random samples of workers, they represent upper and middle management. The researcher used the statistical analysis to proof the findings. The research was divided to four chapters that describe the definition and the importance of planning, network analysis, time analysis, and an overview of the production method used in Ibrahim Shams Al-din Industrial Complex. The research proof that CPM can be used for planning in any project and to schedule all the tasks according to their logical assignment. CPM also can help identify nonessential tasks to distribute them across the project phases to increase productivity. In addition to nonessential tasks, CPM used to identify bottleneck tasks that can delay or jeopardize the project. As conclusion, CPM should be used in any projects to be on time and on budget. Based on these discoveries, the research recommendation is to classify all tasks base on their time and importance in the project before applying the Critical Path Method. To keep the projects on time and on budget all the tasks must categorize as nonessential and bottleneck tasks in order to achieve the maximum productivity and successful results. The research also recommends the use of CPM in Ibrahim Shams Al-din Industrial Complex under the supervision of the upper managements.
