Abstract

The research dealt with the Sudanese press for economic development issues, applied analytical study on Akhbar al-Youm (today's news) and Sudanese newspapers in the period (2015-2017). The research focused on its objectives on several axes, including: Identify the role of economic journalism and its functions in achieving development goals and identify the content of what is presented in the specialized economic pages or appendices and the suitability of this content with the needs of the reader, and the problem of research revolves that there is a set of economic changes that have emerged In the economic arena as a result of political transformations around the world, including Sudan through this research we identify the role that the press can play in solving economic problems. The researcher used the historical and descriptive analytical methods using the research tools of identifying the content analysis and interviews applied to the research community. The research is divided into four chapters: the first chapter deals with the methodological framework of the research, the second chapter falls under the title of the emergence of the Sudanese press and the objectives, functions and fields of the press. The content analysis was used on Akhbar al-Youm (today's news) and al-Sudani newspapers and interviews with journalists and economists. The research came up with a set of results, including: The economic press played its role in achieving development goals and help economic journalism by analyzing the economic situation and reaching what delays the process of economic development. The researcher recommended that the economic press enjoy financial allocations in order to play its full role and the need to give economic development importance in terms of space used and in terms of subtraction
