Abstract

This research translates three chapters (11, 12, and 13) from a book called At the Center of Storm My Years at the CIA, written by George Tenet with Bill Harlow, the book speaks about the events that happened in America and out side America concerning terrorists acts during the years he was incharge of CIA, specially 9/11. In chapter 11 (Missed opportunities) he spoke about what America could do to stop 9/11 if it is possible and if not why? Who is responsible for? Such as putting terrorists in “watch listing” and the arrest of Zacarias Moussaoui. Where the first plan of 9/11 took place? and the role of American’s Agencies in tracking them. The failure of FBI lawyers to find a way to search the luggage of Zacarias Moussaoui after his arrest. In chapter 12(Into Sanctuary) he discussed what Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and other Agencies did to chase Al-Qa’ida and Taliban out of Afghanistan by having new Rules and authorities from the president of the country. Sending troops and teams to Afghanistan, building relationships with Afghani war lords and CIA Northern Alliance Liaison Team. Supporting Krazai, focusing on weakening Al-Qa’ida by killing or arresting it’s leaders and the helpful actions taken by Pakistani president.

In chapter 13 (Threat Matrix) he spoke about thousands of threats that America receives every day whether they were inside the country or outside it. The first point of that was the attacks of 9/11 were not an end they were beginning as what Bin Ladin said and how most of Al-Qa’ida plans were not achieved. Also the writer said their success was due to many reasons. The first reason was the loss of Al-Qa’ida;s safe haven in Afghanistan, the second reason was Pakistani president Musharraf,s decision to the fight on our side. The third reason was the decisive actions on the part of the Saudi leadership following the Riyadh bombing in May 2003. Also he said there were combinations of three things that led them to this massive success, information gained from National Security Agency (NSA,s) Terrorist Surveillance program, CIA interrogation of a handful of high—value detainees and those who lead provided by another highly classified programs that tracked terrorist financial transactions. Lastly he confirmed one thing terrorists will attack America again if it does not study the matter well and do it is best to protect itself.
