Abstract: The aim of this study is to know the reality of the implementation of strategic management in Yemeni higher education institutions according to the criteria of the European model of excellence (leadership, policy and strategies, human resources, partnership, resources and processes). For the implementation of strategic management in Yemeni higher education institutions according to the criteria of the European model of excellence, The researcher used the descriptive analytical method. The study community represented in the Yemeni’s higher education institutions government and civil, the study simple has represented in the academic and administrative leaders of university of Sana’a and science and technology university numbered 345 a person. The data were processed according to the SPSS program using the arithmetic mean, standard deviation, Alpha Cronbach, Pearson correlation coefficients, One Sample T Test analysis, One Way Anova analysis, The results of the study revealed the following important results: The existence of an average application of strategic management in the Yemeni higher education institutions according to the criteria of the European model of excellence. There are significant obstacles facing the implementation of strategic management in these institutions. There were significant differences at the level of significance (α = 0.05) on the reality of the implementation of strategic management in Yemeni higher education institutions due to the university variable, age and years of experience. There are no differences with statistical function of the variable (Α = 0.05) on the obstacles to the application of strategic management in Yemeni higher education institutions due to the variables of university, qualification and years of experience, There were no statistically significant differences in the variables of function, age, and gender. There were statistically significant differences at the level of significance (α = 0.05) on the requirements of applying strategic management in Yemeni higher education institutions due to the general variables and the age group and qualification. , Age, and function ,and, in the light of the results of the researcher envisions a proposal for the application of strategic management in higher education Yemeni institutions in accordance with the standards of the European form prescribed for excellence, as a researcher made a number of recommendations, including: strengthening the workers trends in all higher education Yemeni institutions towards the practice of strategic management through the dissemination of culture that increase and deepen positive concepts like, the provision of physical, human and technological potential of the centers and departments of quality and excellence that will help the application of strategic management in all higher education institutions of Yemen, efforts regulations, legislation and the adoption of policies that serves the application of strategic management in higher education institutions of the Yemeni.
