Abstract: This research (A comparative study of the sayings of Zaid bin Aslam and Mujahid in the interpretation of the first third of the Holy Quran as revealed in the tafseer of Ibn Katheer), is one of the most important researches that study the sayings of the interpreters of the Holy Quran, and compare them to each other. The motive of the study is to be acquainted with the biography of zaid, mujahid and ibn katheer, and their interpretation methodology besides studying the sayings of zaid and mujahid as indicated in the tafseer of ibn katheer. The research contains four chapters and a conclusion. The first chapter is mainly on the research essentials while the second chapter is about the biography of the three scholars mentioned earlier may Allah have mercy on them, as well as their interpretation methodology. The third and fourth are about the compilation of the sayings and studying them by first quoting them, then refer to the source from which it was obtained for the purpose of authentication then stating those with same view and what attests to it from shariah or Arabic language if any and finally comparing between Sayings and in conclusion the research expresses its outcomes, recommendations, appendixes and indexes. Through the study, it was evident that the doctrines of the three schorlars and their method of interpretation were convincing and acceptable except for some oddities narrated by Mujahid. The researcher also identified thirty-three areas where Ibn Katheer had quoted sayings of Zaid and Mujahid. Most of those that were attributed to Mujahid had chains of narrators in their sources, whereas the sayings of Zaid lacked the same except a handful of them. Analysis conducted with the aid of the books of jarh and taadil on the sayings that contained the chain of narrators, showed that most of them were authentic and acceptable. The research relied a lot on tafseer of Tabari in comparing the sayings due to its distinguished manner of assessing, and the regulations of tafseer it employs in undertaking that. It was established that:82% of the sayings studied are correspondent to one another in either phrase or meaning
