Abstract

The research tackles the press and its role in mobilization of the national movement against colonialism as well as, the role of the Sudanese national and prominent figures during 1920-1925. The researcher used the historical method and analyst concept and interviews with a number of pressmen and mass media outstanding figures. The study includes four Chapters, the first, represents the methodological frame work of the study, the second, represent the establishment and development of the Sudanese press including three periods, the first, the pre-independence Sudanese press, the second, the after-independence Sudanese press and the third includes the development of the Sudanese press. The third Chapter discussed the role of the Sudanese press in national movement in three researches, the first, the national intellectuals and their role in national movement, the second tackled the press and the national issues and the third includes the problems facing the Sudanese press, while, the fourth discussed applied studies with information on the only newspaper that issued during the study period (Al-Hadara newspaper). The study approved that the Sudanese press , during all government systems, has been playing an important role concerning the formation and leading the public opinion and supporting the principle of nationalism, but during the study period, 1920-1925. It had a clear cut stance towards colonialism but it also, took negative stance towards the national movement during Al-Lewa Al-Abiad Revolution-1924.
