| Abstract: | This study discusses the evaluation of grammar syllabus for the second level classof the secondary schools from the point of view of teachers in Khartoum State, ShuahadaLocality. Objectives of the study: 1. To shed the light on the consistencyof the objectives of Grammar syllabus for the second level class of the secondary schools with the objectives of the secondary stage. 2. To clearify the extent of how the contents thefulfill the requirements of Khartoum society. 3. To show the school text book condition as far as its design, formulation and content are concerned. Findings of the study: 1) The findings of the study showed that the objectives need to be revised, in other words, the grammar syllabus for the second level class of the secondary schools should be reviewed or reconsidered. 2) The findings found out that the contents do not consider the number of curricula prescribed to be studied by a student, as well as they do not meet the desires, needs and trends of students. 3) The findings showed that the adopted methods and aids do not consider the diversity of teaching the grammar and such a method does not grant the students an opportunity to participate in the class. It is a conventional method that is not based on any scientific methodology. Recommendations of the study: 1. The grammar syllabus for the secondary stage should be reconsidered by adopting the scientific criteria in improving the setting out of the grammar syllabus. 2. Evaluation tools should be determined in accordance with the objectives of the grammar syllabus. Also, the examinations should be meant to achievethe objectives of the grammar syllabus. The grammar syllabus should be assessed continuously. 3. Due consideration should be made to recognize the clarity of the objectives, as well as the possibility of achieving the same. |
