Abstract: The aim of this research was to identify the role of the method of discussion in increasing the educational achievement of the geography of the first grade of the teacher from the point of view of teachers. The researcher followed the descriptive approach. The questionnaire was used as a tool to collect information from the research sample of (30) teachers and teachers randomly selected from the research community. After the data were collected, the statistical package for social sciences SPSS was analyzed and analyzed, where the arithmetic mean and T test were used for one sample to verify the hypotheses of the research. The researcher reached a number of results: 1. The method of discussion increases the academic achievement of students in the first grade secondary in geography. And teaching in the manner of discussion leads to a positive change in the direction of the study. 2. The method of discussion helps to teach the thinking of students in the first grade secondary. 3. The method of discussion provides an opportunity to achieve the objectives of geography for first grade secondary students 3. There are problems hindering the use of the method of discussion in achieving the objectives of the geography course, the most important of which is the presence of a large number of students in the classroom. 4. The researcher recommended the training of teachers in the use of modern and effective teaching methods that are commensurate with the geography course. Teachers should use the method of discussion in teaching geography as much as possible and the diversity of teaching methods. Some proposals were made for subsequent studies.
