Abstract

This research derives importance from its coverage of the vital roles that sharia goals play in solving problems of humanity. It emphasizes essentialness of unity in Somalia in particular and the Muslim world at large. It also points out the roots of disunity in Somalia and how its linked to continuous infringement of sharia goals there, without neglecting to mention the factors of unity. The study covers sides of sharia goals, giving its definition, importance, its phases and divisions. It also singles out ways of discovering these goals on scholarly basis. Discussed herein are concept of Muslim unity its rules and essentialness. A brief history about evolution of this goals is included a alongside with a brief historical background on the state and the people of Somalia. The study clarifies how achievement of sharia goals affects unity in Somalia, through achieving the goal of protecting the religion, human, financial interests and the goal pertaining to the system of governance. The study boils down to numerous results including the statement that the Islamic religion is a salvation to humanity as its goals pursue happiness of the human being in this world and in the hereafter. Islam makes unity an obligation based on the societal need for it. The study concludes that the Somali problem has many dimensions but the fulfillment of the basic sharia goals makes the impetus to harmony and unity. The study recommends, Inter alia, enrichment of scientific research on unity, engaging all daawa outlets and the political class in achieving it. Advising the later to pursue the public interest and emphasizing on education and the scientific research as tools for reforms. Meanwhile the study is appendant with a number of glossaries to help the reader as appreciated by the field of scientific research.
