Abstract

This research discusses the mosque and its role in social change - the research of an evaluation research of the reality of the mosques in Lagos State; it aims to highlight the role of the mosque in the era of Prophet, to serve as a platform for imams in Lagos State to restore the mosque to its glory and prestige. It is also trying to find out the reality of the role of mosques in Lagos State. At the same time, recognize the obstacles to social change through the role of the mosque in Lagos State. And it reveals the shortcomings of society in the lack of attention to mosques as the basic key and strongholds to social change in Lagos State. Finally, this research aims to identify the role of religious scholars and students in Lagos State and the great role it can play in social change.

The researcher used the descriptive and inferential to address the issues of this research, the researcher also collect information from the following sources: 1. Relevant Studies. 2. Primary and secondary sources. 3. Wide networks.

The research has five hypotheses, while questionnaire and interview are used as research instrument and this research has six chapters, addressed as follows:

Chapter one deals with the basics of the research. Chapter two treats the emergence of the mosque and its characteristics in Islam; Chapter Three: Previous Studies Chapter Four: Procedure of the Case study Chapter Five: discusses the hypotheses of the research on the data analysis. Chapter Six deals with the most important results of the research, the recommendations and the suggestions for further the research, which the researcher used to end up this research.
