Abstract: The aim of the study was to identify the effectiveness of a computer program designed to teach language skills in secondary Arab schools in Sokoto, Nigeria. The researcher followed the experimental approach, using computer-generated tutorials, Microsoft PowerPoint presentations, and then designed a test to use a tool to gather information and measure the level of students in the study sample before and after lessons. Forty students were selected from the study population. They were divided into two control and experimental groups by means of random drawing. The researcher then used the draw method to divide this sample into two experimental and control groups, and then subjected them to tribal testing to learn their past experiences and their knowledge of reading skills. The control group was taught in the traditional and experiential way using the computer program. The two groups underwent a post-test and the introduction of grades in the SPSS program for the purpose of verifying hypotheses. A number of statistical tests were performed; T-test and standard scores for post-test. After the analysis of the data, a number of results were obtained: There were statistically significant differences in the experimental group scores in the tribal and remote tests, and there were statistically significant differences in the control group scores in the tribal and remote tests. And there were statistically significant differences between the experimental and control groups in the post-test. Thus, the use of computer-based programs in teaching reading skills will facilitate the learning process and achieve greater effectiveness in the teaching process. The researcher presented a number of recommendations, the most important of which are: Enlightenment seminars and lectures for computer-aided learning through computer programs within the classroom, knowing that the computer will not compensate for the role of professor. And raise the technical proficiency of Arabic language teachers so that they are able to use the computer and benefit from it in teaching Arabic language skills. And to create a climate for computer-assisted learning by introducing computer-assisted teaching material in teacher training institutes. And the dissemination of confidence in teachers in the use of computers in teaching, especially teachers of Arabic language by mentors and trainers.
