| Abstract: | Prepared by the Student: Mona Ibrahim Mohamed Omer Supervised by Dr. Abbas Abakar Mohammed Ahmed The Role of Public Relations in Crisis Management in Government Institutions An analytical descriptive study applied to the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning In the period from 2016 to 2018 Abstract The aim of this study was to identify the role of public relations during crisis phases, in addition to its contribution to crisis resolution. It also clarifies the methods of exploring the public relations department for the outbreak of the crisis, activating the interest of government officials in the importance of managing public relations and identifying the corrective and remedial function of public relations. The researcher adopted the descriptive methodology in analytical style, as this methodology is objective and impartial, and leads to accurate results. In order to access the initial data, the researcher used questionnaire and interview tools as basic research tools. The research community in this study is the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning in the Republic of the Sudan, and the researcher had to identify samples of the internal audience (i.e. employees) in the ministry The research section was divided into four chapters: Chapter I dealt with the methodological framework and chapter two came with the title: Concepts and fundamentals of public relations. The third chapter was called crisis management in government institutions. The fourth chapter was part of the field study. The study ended with findings and recommendations, and the references used by the student in the research. By processing the data contained in the questionnaire form, as well as the information received through personal interviews, the study reached the following findings: 1-The study revealed that public relations are practicing constructive planning to mitigate the damages of the crisis, and face the masses by appropriate means with the masses concerned 2-The study confirmed that the ministry adopts public relations during the Ministry's events more than it does during the period of crisis 3-The study revealed that the weaknesses of public relations; lack of qualified cadres, the weakness in how to choose the means of communication used, weak funding, weak composition of specialized teams. The study came out with the following recommendations: 1-The need to hold specialized training courses in the management of public relations and crisis management, intensifying the content and duration of the courses and attracting qualified and specialized personnel in the field of public relations 2-The need to evaluate the performance of public relations during crises and to carry out intensive media campaigns after the crisis has ended 3-The possibility of granting powers to the personnel, and delegating them within the permissible limits so that the Department of Public Relations can carry out its role more fully. |
