dc.description.abstracthis study titled self-esteem and its relationship to academic achievement, and the study was the unity of a local secondary school buildings Khartoum third grade. In order to know the differences in self-esteem due to sex (male / female), Course academic (scientific, literary) , School type (typical / geographic). The researcher followed the descriptive approach, the study sample consisted of 86 students were selected simple random manner, and the research questionnaire tool. The researcher found to a number of findings, including: 1- There is the existence of a positive correlation statistically significant differences between self-esteem and academic achievement among secondary school students in Khartoum locality unit buildings. This positive relationship between academic achievement and self-esteem all dimensions (psychological, social, and physical), but it was in self-assess physical relationship is weak and statistically significant. 2- Characterized by self-esteem of all kinds with local high school students Khartoum positive. 3- There are no differences in self-esteem among secondary school students in Khartoum locality due to the variable gender (male / female). 4- There were no statistically significant differences in the level of self-esteem among secondary school students due to the variable of academic course differences (scientific / literary). 5- There were no statistically significant differences in the level of self-esteem among secondary school students in the school due to the variable type differences (typical / geographic). Recommendations: Based on what resulted from the current study, the researcher recommends the following: 1- The family must do their best to get away from the transaction is correct methods because of the importance of playing an effective role in the development of self-esteem. 2- Educate parents to accept personal adolescent and adolescence and to understand and take into account the critical period they are going through The need for attention to 3- the preparation of an appropriate teacher prepared for being the active ingredient in the upbringing of children emerging and sponsorship process psychologically and socially to the extent that he can master the task, and accept students, and get to know their problems and try to solve them in cooperation with the family, school. 4- Must be those who provide the educational process detects the levels of self among students in different educational stage to estimate the aim of guiding and steering programs for students, especially low work self-esteem to help in the formation of a positive image of themselves and acceptance of her and then appreciated her under the auspices of supervisors specialists in psychological counseling and guidance field .en_US
