Abstract

Theme: (TV image and its role in promoting the message of the documentary) – A descriptive and analytical study through application on the film (The way to stemming), a 26 minutes documentary produced by the TV of Sudan in 2009 which won many regional awards, (Gold Award at the Festival of Arab radio stations in Tunisia. The research includes an introductory chapter containing the research plan and methodology, and three main chapters: the first chapter deals, in three sections, with the subject of the documentary film, in terms of its characteristics and trends, objectives and production. The second chapter, also of three sections, deals with the subject of the TV picture in terms of its characteristics and advantages and the rules of its production. The third chapter details the steps of the study, analyzing the content of the sample film (the way to stemming). The research objective is to trace the history and evolution of the documentary film industry in Sudan, and to identify the extent of the contribution of the image in the success of the documentary film. The research came out with a number of results, the most important of which is that the camera is a very important artistic tool with distinct characteristics, and its proper and optimal employment allows accurate documentation of events and transfer of actual situations. Another important result of the research is the ability of the documentary film in Sudan, which possesses high qualifications in terms of form and content, to compete and excel nationally and internationally, should all the obstacles hindering its development been overcome, specially the poor planning, lack of funding, poor training, and limited production. The research recommended to the need for paying attention to the aesthetics of the image, keeping abreast of new technologies in the production of high purity image by acquiring the latest equipment and machinery; and also paying attention to training and rehabilitation via organizing workshops and seminars that are interested in the arts of photography, especially television. The research also recommends more attention from the media and the state to the status of the documentary and its role in the definition of our country and its heritage, diversity and richness , through the formulation of strategic plans and provision of necessary support for the renaissance of the documentary film , as well as increasing the interest in the private sector and encouraging its production by supporting and sponsoring competitions and festivals internally, and providing opportunities for broadcast and spread across channels, official and private , and to encourage the trend of creating specialized documentary television channels, all in order to establish a new tradition in the production and viewing of documentaries, leading to perfection .
