Abstract: The objective of this study is to obtain scientific knowledge, relevant and, informative on, the temperament of the Sudanese society and the contribution of its socialization agents towards encouraging its members for pro-social behavior and voluntary work, considering, both counterparts: The modern and the traditional, in order to assess and to investigate that role, so as to utilize the obtained data as policy directories in the generalization of voluntary work values as social norms . The study has been accomplished by using primary sources in collecting data: e.g. questionnaires, interviews, and observations. It also used secondary sources: books, journals etc. The study used the descriptive statistical methodology and the SPSS package system in analyzing the data. The studied sample was 60 volunteers selected randomly among the unpaid cadres, 30 of those belong to the modern sector represented by NGOs the other 30, are volunteers working under the umbrella of the tribal associations ,representing the traditional sector. The concluded results from this study are:- 1/ the Sudanese socialization agents like the family & school (In both traditional &modern sectors) , work positively to enhance members of the society to internalize pro-social work as a social norm. 2/ the need for NGOs increases in intensively populated areas in both urban and rural sectors, as the Governmental role falls short of what is needed. 3/ the traditional type of voluntary work- which, gives priority in helping to relatives ,works in harmony with the Sudanese traditional society values, = (characterized by a face to face relations , and it gives little consideration to organization and responsibility specification). 4/ Perception and understanding of the privileges of voluntary work, is an important factor behind voluntary work commitment. 5/ the tribal associations, which represent the traditional society, do not adopt authentic measures and modern administration values. ح According to the above results, the researcher suggests some recommendations to the related authorities i.e. the Governmental institutions and the Sudanese socialization agents, such as:- a- Give priority for capacity building and up-grading of the voluntary personnel. b- Work to make the adoption and internalization of voluntary work values as social norms. c- Work to make adoption of voluntary work values pre- requisite in getting jobs in the Governmental institutions.
