Abstract: This study is titled "the problems of learning the writing skills of Arabic language in public secondary schools in Zanzibar "Descriptive and analytical study". The most prominent reasons for choosing this topic that the researcher observed that a number of writing errors were made by the students in this stage. The problem of this research is that public secondary schools in Zanzibar need to improve the skill of writing Arabic language, thus get rid of it's weakness. Therefore, the research was seeking to give response to the following main question; "what are the problems of learning Arabic language writing skills in the public secondary schools in Zanzibar?". The most important results reached by the researcher are the existence of extreme weakness in the written expression of the students and committing multiple spelling errors, particularly in writing the different (Hamza) letters, drawing words, phonetic errors related to the consonant and vowel letters in addition to grammatical errors as the usage of pronouns, inability of the students to distinguish between the personal pronoun of the first, the second the third person and their inability to use demonstrative pronouns and relative pronouns as well as their inability to deal with the masculine, feminine, singular, plural, definite and indefinite, … etc Among the errors committed by the students of these schools in their writings are the expression errors, lexical and meaning as well as separating what needs to be linked and linking what is ought to be separated then adding a letter or more to the main words particularly vowels with (long movements) as well as changing the location of a letter by another, especially the letters which have the approximate sound and the letters which do not exist in their mother's tongue. The study discovered that many reasons are behind these problems, like lack of student books for writing skills, Lack of clarity in the writing curriculum, lack of Arabic teaching lessons, lack of competent teachers, lack of training, poor salaries of the teachers, the overcrowded classrooms, lack of the usage of teaching means, lack of methods and modern teaching aids as well as little exercise of Arabic writing lack of the usage of Arabic transcript within the community by the students. To avoid these problems, the researcher presented some recommendations, the most prominent being: rehabilitation and training of the teachers, making text books available for the student, giving more time for teaching Arabic language, taking care of teaching the four language skills, using the modern teaching aids and methods as well as a intensive training on writing and corrections as well as taking more care in dictation rules, exclamation marks besides teaching the students how to write formal and friendly letters, messages for congratulations, invitation cards, condolences expressions, words of thanks and greetings, mainly during the religious and local holidays, all of which will develop cooperation and competitive spirit among the students.
